The sustainability team of Alameda County has a clear mission to make the county one of the best places to live, work, and do business. Members of the coalition stay informed and participate in quarterly meetings or calls. The Alameda County Green Business Program helps businesses to follow best practices for energy and water conservation, waste management, and more. The Oakland Climate Action Coalition (OCAC), an intersectoral coalition devoted to racial and economic justice, is devoted to engaging Oakland residents in creating and implementing climate solutions that bolster the environmental, economic, and social resilience of front-line communities. The OCAC works to ensure that all Oakland residents have access to clean air, clean water, healthy food, and green spaces.
They are committed to creating a just transition to a low-carbon economy that benefits all Oaklanders. The OCAC works with local organizations, businesses, and government agencies to develop and implement climate action plans that reduce greenhouse gas emissions while creating jobs and improving public health. The OCAC also works to educate the public about climate change and its impacts on our communities. They host workshops and events to raise awareness about climate change and its effects on our environment. They also provide resources for individuals and organizations to take action on climate change.
Through their efforts, they hope to create a more sustainable future for Alameda County.
